State Officers Receive New Lap Top Computers
Each year graduating FFA students from Florida's public high schools are elected at the State FFA Convention to represent more than 15,000 Florida FFA Members. While serving as a State Officer, these students will enroll in an agriculture related field at the University of Florida and carry at least six hours. Their primary responsibility as State Officers is to serve as ambassadors for agricultural education and the FFA for one year.
These Officers are expected to be highly visible in all communities throughout the state with an aggressive program to speak to Florida's middle and high school classes and assemblies as well as civic organizations. The State Officers travel extensively throughout the state and nation and even attend an international tour of agricultural communities in Europe.
With this fast-paced life style of promoting agricultural education there is a great need for the Officers to have a lap top computer. The computers are used to retrieve speech material, searching internet resources, constant research for the latest information, email communications and scheduling of appointments.
This year, Winn-Dixie Foundation provided brand new Dell lap top computers for each of the eight new officers along with protective carrying cases, appropriate software and a hands-on training session to familiarize the officers with their new equipment.
The computers will be passed on to the new officers at the end of each year at the State Convention and hopefully, lasting at least three years.
